These are the second pair of these delightful little bootees I’ve made and I found the pattern over on Ravelry. They are knitted in Sirdar Baby Bamboo which is lovely mixed yarn in 80% bamboo and 20% wool. It knits beautifully and the yarn gives lovely stitch definition, although this ball seemed to split whilst knitting more than the pink yarn I used here and behaved a bit more like a cotton yarn.
It’s a double knitting weight yarn and I knitted it on 3.75mm bamboo (as it happens – isn’t that a bit like cannibalism?) needles. The colour is 133 Willow. It’s described as a summer weight yarn but in modern centrally heated homes its fine for year round use. The straps open and close using a flower shaped sparkly buttons sewn on in vintage silk twist.
The bootees are a lovely project for novice knitters, there is no complicated stitch work but I’m happy to help if anyone needs advice. They are a quick, satisfying and pretty project for competent knitters too. Just the thing to immerse yourself in on a dank Autumnal day.
Hello to everyone over at Handmade Monday 37.
